Skyworks WA promotion of Viper 640 World Championships

The Viper 640 World Championships was recently hosted by South of Perth Yacht Club 17-23 February, and Skyworks WA was engaged well in advance to help promote it before, during and after the event. Six months ahead Skyworks WA produced a short “teaser” video with the help of some local Viper sailors, then a second teaser using from the Championships practice day, followed by 4 swiftly and expertly edited highlights videos – released within 24 hours of each day’s racing.

Not only was the Skyworks WA crew of 3 rushing around on land and water with 8 cameras (drones, DSLRs, hand held stabilised cameras and Go-Pros), they also managed to put out a live feed from the drone with SoPYC commentary directly to SoPYC’s Facebook page – an added service that was appreciated particularly by the international supporters of the event. Capturing stunning still photographs (aerial and ground-based) of the sailing was another “value added” service provided, making Skyworks WA a complete promotional solution for the client.

John Gibbons, Skyworks WA’s chief pilot and director, is a sailor himself. It is this ability of understanding the racing and being able to predict a tack or gype, coupled with 6 years’ experience of flying drones at such events and 25+ years professional photography experience that makes Skyworks WA’s coverage second to none.

Next up is the Laser State Championships followed by a donation of services promoting Wheatbelt Relay for Life at Northam.
