Avon River Festival 2017
The Shire of Northam is hosting the annual Avon River Festival from 4pm on Friday, August 4, 2017. The Festival launches the start of the Avon Descent, the biggest event on the regional calendar attracting more than 800 competitors with families and support crews. The event is brought together by the Shire of Northam and LotteryWest.
Aimed at families, the Avon River Festival has attractions and activities for all age groups. There will be live performances from local musicians, a street parade plus roving performances, and rides and games for the family. A Side show alley will entertain the young at heart with a host of showbags and games. There will be market stalls and food vendors offering local produce, arts and crafts.
The popular firework finale on the River closes the Festival and sets the scene for the start of the Avon Descent the following day.
Shire President, Cr. Steven Pollard, says the Avon River Festival is a highlight on the Shire’s annual calendar “The Festival brings together locals and visitors, showcasing the vibrancy of our region”.
The Festival will open in Minson Avenue at 4.00pm, with the Street Parade in Fitzgerald Street at 6pm. The firework finale will commence at 8.30pm. Minson Avenue will be closed from 1pm until completion of the event, and Fitzgerald Street will be closed for the street parade only. Please note that this is a pet and alcohol free event.
