NOTICE OF MEETING

The 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Events Industry Association (WA) Inc will be held at Gloucester Park Racecourse on Friday October 20th at 6.30pm.

Members and guests are welcome to attend.

Proxy Voting

If you, as a member, are unable to attend, please complete this form AGM 2017 Proxy
and return to administration. You will be advised in writing that the proxy has been received.

A form appointing a proxy must be given to the executive officer before the commencement of the general meeting for which the proxy is appointed.

A form appointing a proxy sent by post or electronically is of no effect unless it is received by the Association not later than 24 hours before the commencement of the meeting

No member can hold more than five (5) proxy votes for other members

Constitution

The Board of Directors seeks to implement a new Constitution and will put forward this document at the Annual General Meeting for members to vote on. All members are encouraged to read the proposed Constitution in order to vote and implement immediate change at the AGM.

Board Nominations

In preparation for the AGM, nominations for the Board of Directors are now open.

The current Board consists of the following people:

*Term expires at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.

In accordance with the Rules of Association of the Events Industry Association, each year half the Committee positions become vacant upon the expiration of the term of those Board members.

Board members whose term has expired are eligible to nominate for a further two year period. This year the following current members have indicated their willingness to stand for a further two year period:

Darren Heath
Michael Scott
Hugh Singe

As per the Club’s Rules of the Association, should there be more nominations than the number of vacant positions a vote will be held at the Annual General Meeting.

Committee members are expected to be actively involved by:

attending and contributing to monthly meetings, which are typically held at 5:30pm on the first Wednesday of every month
managing and/or participating on Sub-committees
attending and assisting with the management of all events.

Please carefully consider your ability to meaningfully contribute to the Board and only nominate if you believe you can fulfill the duties and meet the time requirements of the position. You should be aware that the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 imposes statutory duties and obligations on Committee members.

In addition, recent changes to the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 prohibit persons from sitting on the Board where they:

Are an undischarged bankrupt or whose affairs are under insolvency law
Have been convicted of an offence involving fraud or dishonesty punishable on conviction by 3 months or more imprisonment; or
Have been convicted of an offence in connection with the promotion, formation or management of a body corporate, including duties under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015.
